My final semester classes included a work experience course where I was to source and secure an internship for 80 hours. Through a lot of searching and contacting I was finally able to secure a place at The Star newspaper in the heart of Newcastle, NSW. My internship with them ended up being longer than 80 hrs, I was there for 8 hours a day, 4 days a week and for 5 weeks. I thought I would get tired of it after a while, but you know what? I loved it! I had so much fun getting that hands on learning that I’d been craving for the last 5 semesters of university courses. The work I produced was okay to start with but thanks to the help of the other journalists I got better. The links below are the .pdf copies of each of my published stories. I’m rather proud of them and I received so much positive feedback from the people I spoke to, it’s very nice.
